Donate Now to Defend Human Rights through the General Work of the Centre

The Human Rights Law Resource Centre promotes the human rights of marginalised and disadvantaged groups through advocacy, litigation, education, capacity building and law reform.

In January 2008, an Independent Evaluation of the Human Rights Law Resource Centre was published by Jackson Consulting and the Melbourne Law School.  The Evaluation found that:

  • the Centre has made a significant and positive contribution to the promotion of human rights through its case work, litigation, policy work and educational activities; and
  • the planning, strategy and governance of the Centre is ‘exemplary’.

The Evaluation also found, however, that further funding is required if the Centre is to expand its activities or operations without diluting its effectiveness.

The Centre relies heavily on donations from individuals, business and foundations for its continued operation and growth.

The Centre has been endorsed by the Australian Taxation Office as a deductible gift recipient. Donations of $2 or more are fully tax deductible.

Your donation will promote and protect human rights.

Donate Now to the Campaign for a National Human Rights Act

The Federal Government has committed to a national public consultation regarding the legal recognition and protection of human rights.

The Human Rights Law Resource Centre is committed to providing leadership on, and contributing to the development of, a national Human Rights Act.  In collaboration with a coalition of non-government organizations and human rights advocates, the Centre is:

  • developing high-level, multi-sector strategies for the national Human Rights Act campaign; and
  • coordinating, resourcing and providing support for NGOs and community organizations to engage with and influence the consultation.

The work of the Centre and Charter Coalition includes preparing fact sheets, comparative and international research, media monitoring and commentary, preparing template submissions, hosting community forums and workshops, train-the-trainer programs, community sector coordination and human rights capacity building, and liaison with the business community, professional associations and other key stakeholders.

The Centre has been endorsed by the Australian Taxation Office as a deductible gift recipient.  Donations of $2 or more are fully tax deductible.

Your donation will be used exclusively for the Campaign for a National Charter of Human Rights.
